New Year

I am very excited to leave 2010 behind me.  Normally I am not one to wish time away, but good riddance to this year. See ya!  Adios, and farewell. I am trying to reflect a bit and think of the good things that happened this year, but it is hard.  My sister passing away on March 21, 2010 sent the year on an unexpected course, met with many sleepness nights, tears, and sadness.  However, I am happy to say that while hearing "time heals" in March made me want to seriously vomit, it is nice to see that it is true - I suspect I always knew it would be true. While some days and times are difficult, I feel encouraged by the strength of my family.  My friend Ben said to me in March that you have to live for those who can't, and I've taken that task very seriously.

All of that aside, the positive elements of 2010 did exist though they may have been clouded.  We maintained good health, kept our jobs amist a turbulent legislative session (not so sure about the upcoming year though!), and I even got a job promotion at the tail end of the year, saying goodbye to supervision.  While I wasn't in the mood to travel this year, I hope next year will open new doors.

This year, after much discussion, we decided to stay in on New Years Eve.  It'll be our 8th anniversary of our engagement night, and I'm happy to stay home.  Sounds so old, but I don't care. :-)  We bought lots of food today and have every plan to eat, drink, and be merry.  We have steak, gnocchi with vodka sauce, chip and dip, cheese, olives stuffed with bleu cheese and gorgonzola, brownies, and wine and champagne to name a few.  After tomorrow night we'll begin to undo the holiday damage and get to exercising!

I am really looking forward to 2011.  I have a feeling it's going to be a great year.

  1. It will be a joy to spend this New Years with the person I love! I hope that 2011 brings great tidings from a rough year of 2010. One can only look at the future and reflect upon the past.
